MediaTek 2026 Analyst Day – Data Center is the Priority

While MediaTek expressed that Data Center is its highest priority and that by the end of 2027, the company’s revenue mix will look very different, it has numerous other opportunities.

We highlight that the company has evolved from being a mobile SOC supplier to now an ecosystem-based semiconductor leader with exposure to IoT, Personal Devices, Data Center, Compute, AI and Connectivity.  In 2025, the company exceeded $19B in revenues.  We primarily highlight the company’s Data Center and Wi-Fi efforts in this write-up, as we think they are most relevant.  The company has positioned itself as a major beneficiary of the Data Center capital spending boom.

Data Center
MediaTek explained that its efforts in the Data Center are the “heart of the MediaTek opportunity,” and that it is the top priority. The company explains that, as a top 5 partner with TSMC, it can leverage its access and experience in making mobile chips to enter and succeed in the Data Center semiconductor market. While it explained that it has unique access to TSMC resources that cut “weeks off” of sample chip turnarounds, it also mentioned its emerging relationship with Intel numerous times. The company cited numerous investments it is making: 448G SERDES launches “soon,” die-to-die interconnect (for chiplets, etc.) as a differentiator, and that it is currently investing in both CPC and CPO technology. The company expects a significant ramp in 4Q’26 as it reaches its $1B 2026 revenue target.

The company explained its view on the evolution from copper to optics in the Data Center market.  It said Near Packaged Copper (NPC) is state-of-the-art, and that in the 400G era, Co-packaged Copper (CPC) is coming soon, especially with AEC extending the reach of connections. The company acknowledged that the industry (and MTK) are trying to push copper as much as possible, but that beyond 400G, it believes optics will be required.

The company highlighted that it will support UA Link, and it’ll be ready at the end of 2026. MediaTek also highlighted that it supports NV Link.  The company also mentioned numerous times that it has specific in-house capabilities to incorporate memory into its designs. Additionally, Mediatek explained that has demonstrated in a Proof of Concept demonstrating an Active Optical Cable (AOC) with Microsoft.

Wireless
The company highlighted that it has meaningfully gained share in Enterprise WLAN and highlighted its win with a Tier-1 company in Wi-Fi 7. However, MediaTek also hinted that it is engaging with other Tier-1 Enterprise WLAN companies and thinks it could have additional opportunities to expand. We were encouraged by MediaTek’s positive stance on the Enterprise AP market.
