The AI traffic boom and Coherent Pluggables were the new themes at this year’s Nokia SRexperts / Wavelengths conference. Since Nokia completed its Infinera acquisition in February 2025, it has made leadership changes to reflect its increasing market presence and expanded product breadth. Notably, David Heard, the President of Network Infrastructure for Nokia, kicked off the day with a keynote where he emphasized the company’s growing opportunities. The company had record attendance and hosted a broad list of guest speakers, including NTT Data, Zayo, Nscale, UPMC, Uber, Uniti and 650 Group.
A common theme of most guest speakers was their increasing use of ZR coherent modules. Alan Weckel, of 650 Group, discussed the AI traffic boom and resulting network architectural changes.
